BROTHER OF GABBY EIGENMANN FELT DEGRADED AFTER ASKING HIM TO USE THE HANDICAPPED COMFORT ROOM

Kylie Celebre, transgender woman, make-up vlogger and brother of Kapuso actor Gabby Eigenmann, experienced first-hand discrimination when she used a public female restroom.

In the story that she stated on PEP in one of her interviews, she narrated how a janitress in a mall approached and prohibited her to use female public restrooms and better yet use the handicapped one.

“After I peed, the girl who works in the ladies restroom comes at me ‘Sir, sa susunod po na magre-restroom kayo di po pwede sa girl’s room. Sa handicapped nalang po kayo.’” Not wanting to make a scene, Celebre didn’t argue with the worker anymore.

In a statement she gave PEP, Celebre wanted to educate not only the worker but also all of us that there is a law against discrimination of the trans community. It’s SOGIE BILL House Bill Number 4982 or An Act Prohibiting Discrimination on the Basis of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE) and Providing Penalties that gives protection to the LGBTQ community.

“It felt like you’re degraded as a person, like I’m legit a handicapped. We should spread this to the people and the government. Fight with your transgender brothers and sisters. I don’t want this to happen to anybody else, it is not fair and we don’t deserve this treatment!” Celebre stated.
